Description

The REAL tarot cards of Oswald Wirth! and not the one summarily redrawn in 1960 by Michel Siméon and stripped of many symbols. Faithfully reproduced from the originals of 1889 and 1926. The 1889 deck has been reproduced with the kind permission of the Mechelen Tarot Museum, Belgium (this is the copy that the Bohemian woman holds in her hands in the film Sherlock Holmes 2! It has been reproduced to the exact thickness (510 microns) and, like the 1926 Tarot, on cards that have been laminated in the same way as the old card makers did, thus preventing them from becoming distorted.

Oswald Wirth published the Introduction to Tarot Study in 1931, four years after his large book « Le Tarot des imagiers du moyen-âge » of which this « Introduction » allows an easier approach. A Freemason, member of the Kabbalistic Order of the Rosicrucian and Martinist, he devoted 40 years of his life to the study of the Tarot. He is the inventor of the « cross » draw which he explains in this book.

Passionate about symbolism, he was the founder and for 30 years the director of the magazine « Le Symbolisme ».

The book is accompanied by an original introduction by Francis Lermenier who presents the author and his work. The cards are large, rigid, they are fluid between the fingers and do not deform.

The translation is by the famous fortune-teller and tarot collector Starlata Estella.
